Nicole Ehrhardt, MD, Joins Seattle Clinical Research Center as Co-Medical Director

Research endocrinologist to advance the center’s cardio-metabolic research

SEATTLE, WA. — Seattle Clinical Research Center (SCRC) is pleased to announce the addition of Nicole Ehrhardt, MD, as Co-Medical Director. Dr. Ehrhardt’s primary focus will be on leveraging her expertise in endocrinology studies, in collaboration with Rainier Clinical Research Center (RCRC), to build SCRC’s cardio-metabolic research portfolio, particularly in the areas of obesity and diabetes.

Dr. Ehrhardt graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., with a double major in Biology and English. She earned her medical degree from Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Md., and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Following her training, she served as an endocrinologist in the U.S. Army for eight years. Prior to joining SCRC, she was Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Washington.

Dr. Ehrhardt’s commitment is evident in her leadership of projects focused on prediabetes prevention among African American women, a telemedicine initiative to enhance diabetes care in African-American communities, and securing a $1.5 million Merck Foundation grant for a multilevel intervention to improve diabetes outcomes in the Latino community. Additionally, she received an American Diabetes Association grant to further diabetes outcomes among the LatinX population.

As a certified Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) trainer, Dr. Ehrhardt emphasizes lifestyle changes and multidisciplinary approaches in treating complex diseases. Her research includes pioneering work on continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for patients with type II diabetes, gestational diabetes, and its use within the Latino population.
