Giving Back: SCRC to Host Community Blood Drives
Seattle Clinical Research Center believes that advancing medicine isn’t limited to the studies we conduct. It’s also about supporting the health and well-being of our community. That’s why we’re proud to host a series of upcoming blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross.
Why Blood Donation Matters
Every day, patients across the country rely on donated blood for life-saving treatments. From emergency surgeries to chronic illness management, the need is constant and the supply depends entirely on generous donors.
According to the American Red Cross, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. Yet only a small percentage of people donate regularly. By hosting a blood drive, we hope to make it easier for our community to step in and help fill this critical need.
A Natural Extension of Our Mission
As a clinical research center, our work is rooted in improving health outcomes and contributing to the future of medicine. Hosting a blood drive is a natural extension of that mission, offering a simple but powerful way to make an immediate impact.
While our clinical trials usually focus on long-term advancements, blood donation provides real-time support to patients who need it now. It’s one of the most direct ways to give back.
What to Expect
Our blood drive will take place on-site at our facility in the International District in Seattle, with trained professionals from the American Red Cross ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all donors.
Participants can expect:
· A simple check-in process
· A quick health screening
· A donation process that typically takes about an hour
· Light refreshments following donation
Whether you’re a first-time donor or a regular contributor, the process is simple and your impact is significant.
Who Can Donate?
Most healthy adults are eligible to donate blood. General requirements include:
· Being at least 18 years old (or 16 with parental consent, depending on state laws)
· Weigh at least 110 pounds
· Being in good general health
If you’re unsure about your eligibility, the team from the American Red Cross will be available to answer questions and guide you through the process.
